Mineral : Mimetite
Locality : Level 8, Minerales Shaft 5, Santa Eulalia, Chihuahua, Mexico.
This beautiful specimen features a multitude of pristine, orange, botryoidal, mimetite crystals on a limonite matrix. You can notice there are even some clear little calcite crystals that have grown on the mimetite spheres. The town of Santa Eulalia is famous for it's silver mining as far back as the 1600s. When they got to Level 8 in this particular mine they started finding wonderful smithsonite and mimetite specimens like this one. Most of the mines in the area are now defunct which means pieces like these will only be harder and harder to come by in the future.
